We are looking for a skilled, dependable, and detail-oriented Quality Engineer II, to join our team in the Bay Park area of San Diego, CA. The candidate will draw from previous experience ideally in the battery cell industry. The ideal candidate will be driven, process and quality oriented, and able to work independently to support continuous cell production in a fast-growing organization.

The Chemical Engineer will work across the South 8 team to characterize and support production, new electrolyte formulations, processing methods, and scale-up operations while working with pressurized electrochemical fluid systems. They shall further support research operations by assisting in design, build, maintenance and operation of equipment and battery cell architectures. Use optical, mechanical, electrical characterization techniques to support development and work to research and procure tools and equipment towards these goals. This is an incredibly exciting, dynamic work environment with several parallel projects with various timelines.

This role will involve developing detailed understanding of the relationships between material properties, cell design, and electrochemical parameters to deliver high performance and safe next-generation batteries. The role will require close collaboration with the technical team in addition to external partners and customers on project management and reporting. The Applications Engineer will be responsible for supporting customers in the design, integration, and optimization of battery packs built using our advanced battery cells. This individual will combine deep technical knowledge of both cell-level performance and system-level pack design with strong customer-facing skills. They will ensure our products are successfully adopted and will provide valuable feedback to guide product development. The Applications Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting technical customer development efforts, bridging the gap between customer needs and our technological capabilities.
