To integrate LiGas electrolyte into lithium-ion battery cells, South 8 has developed a proprietary gas injection system that seamlessly fits within standard cell manufacturing lines.
The LiGas injector delivers a precise dose of the liquefied gas under controlled pressure. Once sealed, the gas remains in a liquid state inside the cell, ensuring optimal ionic conductivity and system performance.
This streamlined process enables manufacturers to adopt LiGas technology without major retooling, accelerating the path to safer, higher-performing batteries across a wide range of cylindrical cell format sizes.

Research & Development
At South 8, our R&D focuses on the formulation, characterization, and integration of LiGas—a liquefied gas electrolyte system—into next-generation lithium-ion cells. We create and test new LiGas electrolyte blends and battery designs to improve safety, enable performance in extreme environments, and support high-power, fast-charging applications in aerospace, automotive, defense, and beyond.

Our Engineering and Design team develops the specialized LiGas injector system for safe, precise electrolyte filling, and works closely with cell manufacturers to integrate LiGas into commercial lithium-ion formats. We also design and adapt cell hardware—such as seals, vents, and housings—to ensure compatibility, performance, and manufacturability across demanding applications.
